RICHMOND — William & Mary freshman Oliver Hague was named the CAA Rookie of the Year on Wednesday, highlighting the Tribe’s haul of league awards.
Hague was also one of five Tribe players to earn All-CAA honors this season. Graduate student Alexandre Leblanc was named to the All-CAA Second Team in singles and a pair of Tribe doubles teams received all-league honors for the first time since 2013. Hague and graduate student Satchel Benn were named to the All-CAA Second Team in doubles, while graduate students Bill Duo and Konstantinos Raptis garnered third team honors.
Hague became the fifth Tribe player to be named CAA Rookie of the Year and the first since 2015. He joined a list of W&M freshmen that included Sean Kelleher (2002), Alex Cojanu (2005), Jamie Whiteford (2010), and Christian Cargill (2015).
On the year, Hague led the Tribe with a 24-9 singles record, including an impressive 15-5 mark in dual-match action. His 24 singles wins rank eighth on the Tribe’s rookie wins list, while his singles winning % of 72.7% was fifth. Hague moved up to No. 3 singles at the end of the season, going 3-0 over the final four matches with a win in the CAA Quarterfinal victory over Monmouth.
In doubles, Hague compiled a 19-7 mark, playing primarily at No. 2. His win total ranks 13th on the program’s freshman doubles wins list, while his winning % of 73.1% is sixth.
Leblanc held down the top singles spot during his only season in Williamsburg to earn a spot on the All-CAA Second Team. He posted a 16-9 overall record, including eight wins at No. 1. He notched a pair of CAA wins at No. 1 over fellow all-league performers. Leblanc topped All-CAA First Teamer Veljko Krstic of Elon in straight sets during the regular season to go with a straight-sets win over fellow second teamer Alan Jesudason of Drexel.
Hague and Benn earned a spot on the All-CAA Second Team in doubles. The pair went 19-5 on the year, including a 15-4 mark at the No. 2 spot. Hague and Benn were twice named the CAA Doubles Team of the Week and closed the year on a 14-match win streak. The pair was 5-1 against CAA competition, including both matches in the CAA Tournament.
The Tribe’s top pair of Duo and Raptis garnered a place on the All-CAA Third Team. The combo went 10-8 at No. 1, including a pair of CAA wins. Duo and Raptis won their opening league match over Delaware and downed Drexel’s top tandem of Alex De Sousa and Alan Jesudason, who earned All-CAA Second Team honors.
