WILLIAMSBURG — For the third season in the last four, William & Mary men’s tennis earned a national team ranking, the ITA announced this week. The Tribe came in at No. 73 in the first computers poll of the 2024 season sponsored by Tennis-Point.
The Green and Gold earned a national ranking behind two-straight wins at the ECAC Championship to finish in fifth place at the tournament. W&M downed current No. 62-ranked Dartmouth, 4-3, in the fifth-place match.
The Tribe is 4-4 on the year, having played five of its eight matches against teams currently in the national top 75. Along with the Big Green, W&M played No. 46 Delaware, No. 47 Old Dominion, No. 48 Florida Atlantic and No. 69 Yale. The CAA had three teams in the national rankings with No. 75 Drexel joining the Tribe and Blue Hens.
The Tribe was ranked No. 72 in the national rankings in March of 2022 and finished the 2021 dual-match season at No. 59 in the poll.
W&M and No. 62 Dartmouth meet for the second-straight weekend when the Big Green travels to Williamsburg on Saturday. The match is slated for an 11 a.m. start time from the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
