W&M’s Caroline Hertzberg Earns Preseason All-CAA Lax Honors

RICHMOND — After establishing herself as one of the top players in the Coastal Athletic Association, William & Mary lacrosse standout Caroline Hertzberg was selected to the league’s preseason all-conference honorable mention team on Wednesday.

The team was selected by a vote of the league’s nine head coaches.

A four-year starter, Hertzberg enters her senior season ranked 10th in school history in career draw controls (104) and 11th in caused turnovers (51). Additionally, she ranks fifth at W&M in draw controls per game (2.48) and seventh in caused turnovers per game (1.21).

Hertzberg is coming off a tremendous junior campaign in which she led the team in caused turnovers (17) and ground balls (34), while she also ranked second on the squad in draw controls (42). Her 2.13 ground balls per game ranked fifth in the CAA.

As a sophomore, she earned second-team All-CAA honors after leading W&M in draw controls (59), which ranked second on the program’s single-season list. Additionally, she ranked second on the squad in ground balls (28) and caused turnovers (17).

Also an exceptional student, Hertzberg has earned CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll distinction and W&M’s Provost Award multiple times. She was also selected to the 2023 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

W&M, which was voted seventh in the CAA Preseason Poll, will open the season when it plays at George Mason on Feb. 9, while it will host Old Dominion for its home opener at Martin Family Stadium on Feb. 17. The Tribe will look to build upon a tremendously successful 2023 campaign in which it posted the program’s highest win total and most conference victories since 2011.
