The Trojans hosted Woodberry Forest on a great day for soccer. WA started the game with the majority of the possession, but they were not able to generate many chances until Solvi Bjornsson was taken down in the box and awarded a PK. He stepped to the spot and calmly put the Trojans up 1-0.
The second half continued to see both teams limit goal scoring opportunities while the Trojans still maintained the better possession. With approximately 20 minutes remaining in the half, Solvi Bjornsson netted his second goal of the game, when Connor Norris sent a long free kick in from midfield that found Bjornsson’s head and went over the Woodberry Forest goalie. The visitors got one back with 6 minutes remaining as WA gave up a free kick from 35 yards out and were unable to clear the ball as it came into the box. The Trojans held strong though for the remaining minutes to earn another hard fought win.
“This was a total team effort from our guys, and certainly one of our best played games against a quality opponent in Woodberry Forest. ”
WA plays next on Monday at home against Hampton Christian and then on Tuesday on the road against Bishop Sullivan Catholic to start TCIS play.
