Alexa Halko has done it again.
The 16-year-old junior at Jamestown High School has proven — once again — that she can perform on the world’s biggest stage. She won her second medal of her first Paralympic Games Wednesday, taking silver in the women’s 400 T34.
Halko won bronze Saturday in the women’s 100 T34 race.
The youngest member of the U.S. Paralympic Track & Field Team, Halko finished Wednesday’s race with a time of 1:00.79.
Hanna Cockroft of Great Britain took gold in the 400 T34 with a time of 58.78 seconds, and Kare Adenegan, also of Great Britain, came in behind Halko with a time of 1:01.67.
According to a news release from the United States Olympic Committee, Halko hopes to round out her medal collection with gold in her best event, the 800, on Friday.
“You never know,” Halko said in the release. “I hope so, because that would be my dream, especially in the 800-meters.”
