Outdoor Track & Field: Walsingham, HRA Shine at TCIS Championship Meet

Walsingham Academy and Hampton Roads Academy each earned top-four finishes during the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools championships on Tuesday.

In the girls competition, Walsingham took fourth place with 55.33 points, which was well behind the 221 points Norfolk Academy garnered on its way to first place.

HRA finished in sixth place with 23.33 points.

For Walsingham, Clare Kinney and Catherine Schumacher took second and sixth, respectively, in the 800-meter run.

Kiely Curran finished third in the 400-meter dash, and Grace Vidlak took second in the 3,200-meter run. Denise Dangeleit took third in the high jump, while teammate Sarah Benson finished fifth in the long jump.

The Trojans finished third in the 4×100-meter relay, and took second in the 4×400- and 4×800-meter relays.

HRA’s Jada Buckhanon finished sixth in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Maia Semmes and Ally Motter finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash.

Emma Howard earned fifth in the 1,600-meter run, while Ayla McBreen finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.

The Navigators took second in the 4×100-meter relay and third in the 4×400-meter relay.

In the boys competition, HRA finished third with 82 points. Bishop Sullivan won the meet with 120 points, and Walsingham finished fourth with 57.50 points.

HRA’s Grant Stokes finished fifth in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash.

Sam Wash took fourth in the 3,200-meter run, while Jack Teagle won the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Teagle also finished fourth in the triple jump.

The Navigators took second in the 4×100-meter relay and fourth in the 4×400-meter relay. They also took sixth in the 4×800-meter relay.

Matt Walker finished third in the high jump, while Devone Humphrey finished second in the long jump. TJ Carlos finished second in the triple jump, and Korey Ricks finished third in the shot put. Christopher Bratcher earned third in the discus.

For Walsingham, Petr Ptacek finished sixth in the 400-meter dash. Mathias Cannon took second in the 1,600-meter run, while Jack Grimson finished second in the 3,200-meter run.

Chris Correll earned fifth in the 110-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles.

Walsingham’s 4×400-meter relay team earned first place.

Connor Norris tied for sixth place in the high jump, and Holden Kearns finished second in the shot put.
