Baseball: HRA Nabs First Win of 2016 Season

NavigatorsHunter Hickman went a perfect 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs to help lead Hampton Roads Academy to a 7-5 win at home against Bishop Sullivan on Thursday.

The Navigators jumped to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning before Bishop Sullivan tacked on three runs in the top of the third inning.

Chris Leavey set up HRA’s response in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI single to left field. That single was followed by Hickman hitting a three-run double into center field that put the Navigators back on top 5-3.

Bishop Sullivan responded with runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings, tying the game up at 5-5 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Hickman came up big again for HRA, hitting an RBI triple before Liam Carr hit into an RBI fielder’s choice for the final run of the game.

HRA (1-8) will visit Peninsula Catholic on Tuesday looking to start a winning streak.
