DeVonte Dedmon Honored as CAA Special Teams Player of the Week

After posting an outstanding performance in the William & Mary football team’s win at Elon, sophomore wide receiver DeVonte Dedmon has been chosen as the Colonial Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week.

Dedmon’s selection marks the fourth time this season that a Tribe player has garnered the league’s special teams player of the week award.

Highlighting Dedmon’s effort at Elon was a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown that gave W&M a 21-0 lead midway through the first quarter. It was his second special teams score this season, as he returned a kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown at Delaware.

In addition to his 79 yards on two punt returns at Elon, the Williamsburg, Va., native recorded a 30-yard kickoff return.

Dedmon currently ranks 19th nationally in kickoff return average (26.0) is averaging 17.7 yards per return on his nine punt opportunities.

Dedmon leads W&M’s receiving corps with 39 catches for 399 yards with five touchdowns.
