An overtime game-winning goal by Erin Malone lifted Grafton to victory 1-0 at home against Lakeland on Wednesday.
Grafton heavily controlled the pace of play throughout the game. Perhaps the most telling statistic from the game is Grafton goalkeeper Laurel Nicks not having to record a single save to earn the shutout.
While Grafton held Lakeland scoreless through the 60 minutes of regulation, Lakeland returned the favor and kept the Clippers off the board, as well.
In overtime, Liv Lilygren sent a pass to Malone, who placed her shot past Lakeland goalie Delean Scott for the game-winning goal.
Wednesday’s win marked the third consecutive game Grafton has played in an overtime period. The Clippers are 2-1 in overtime games this season.
Grafton (6-6) will continue its season Monday on the road against Jamestown.

The tables were turned when, later in the first half, Jessica Cooke assisted on a Kalya Cooke goal that put the Lions up 2-0. Warhill carried its 2-0 lead into halftime.
Out of the break, Haley Smith scored an unassisted goal to conclude the game’s scoring.
