Walsingham Boys, Girls Cross-Country Teams Take Third in Norfolk Collegiate Invitational

Walsingham Academy’s boys and girls cross-country teams finished third during the Norfolk Collegiate Invitational in Virginia Beach on Wednesday.

The Walsingham boys finished with a team score of 82, which was behind second-place Norfolk Collegiate with 47 points and first-place Bishop Sullivan with 28 points.

In the boys race, Cody Carpenter finished in 12th place overall with a time of 19:41.9, which was followed closely by the time of his teammate Patrick Murphy, who took 13th place in a time of 19:42.19.

Finishing third for Walsingham was Matthew Brause, who crossed the finish line in a time of 20:37.54 in 20th place. Jack Yang finished 30th in a time of 22:20, and Peyton Marshall took 34th place in a time of 22:51.

Walsingham finished the girls race with 45 team points, which was just behind second-place Bishop Sullivan with 40 points. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy took first place with 35 points.

Julia Grimson was the highest finisher for the Trojans, taking seventh place with a time of 23:26.10. Next up was Grace Klopp in 11th place in 23:55.33.

Walsingham teammates Hannah Pickering and Clare Kinney finished 12th and 13th in times of 24:33.49 and 24:35.17, respectively. The last scorer for Walsingham was Alisa Wash in 18th place with a time of 25:44.32.
