The Team Flash Virginia Track and Field Club, a running club based in Williamsburg, saw plenty of success during a pair of major meets in June.
The first of the two meets – the New Balance Nationals Outdoor – took place June 19 to 21 at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Jamestown High athletes Darius Reed, Jordan Willis, Christopher Jones and Jordan Turner represented Team Flash in the 4×100-meter relay, finishing 33rd with a time of 43.14.
Turner and Willis paired up with Jamestown High athletes William Stevenson and Cameron Coates to compete in the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay in the Emerging Elite division. The relay team finished in 15th place, recording a time of 3:31.91.
Reed also competed in the 100-meter dash in the Freshman division, finishing 31st overall with a time of 11.63, which was .47 seconds off the qualifying time for the final heat.
The second meet Team Flash competed in was the AAU Region 5 Qualifier Meet, which was held June 26 to 28 at Lakeland High School in Suffolk.
Adam Leschinger, a 13-year old from Toano Middle School, stole the show for Team Flash during the Region 5 meet. Leschinger swept his age division in the jumping events, taking first in the long, triple and high jumps, while also winning every event during the pentathlon.
In the 15-16 age division, Jordan Turner took first place in the 100-meter dash wtih a time of 11.38 after running an 11.57 in the qualifying round.
Team Flash took home a pair of wins in the girls 3,000-meter race walk with Abby Leschinger taking first in the 15-16 age division and Amber Horner winning the race in the 17-18 division.
In the 11 age division, Loyal Gresham finished as the runner up in the boys 100-meter dash. Michael Tyler took second place in the 17-18 age division high jump, clearing 6-foot-2.
Rahmaan Rinkin finished third in the boys 200-meter dash and fourth in the 100-meter dash in the 10-year-old age division.
