
As the Historic Triangle and the surrounding areas continue cleaning up the mess from Monday’s winter storm, local prep sports have been repeatedly postponed or canceled.
Williamsburg James-City County, York County and Walsingham Academy announced Wednesday evening schools would remain closed for Thursday, which once again pushed back scheduled athletic events.
The Conference 19, 25, 33 and TCIS basketball tournaments, which have yet to begin after being scheduled to start earlier in the week, may see format readjustments in the form of eliminating the quarterfinal round or sending top seeds straight to the regional tournaments if games cannot be played Friday.
In light of the recent winter storms, the Virginia High School League announced Wednesday morning the 4A state swim meet would be delayed until Friday to give schools across the commonwealth safer travel conditions.
