Game On: Lafayette’s Neville Invited to Elite Top Gun Football Camp

GameOn.2.0Lafayette High rising junior Trey Neville, who was a two-way starter each of the past two seasons at Jamestown High, has been invited to participate in Football University’s annual ‘Top Gun’ camp.

Neville, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end/defensive lineman, is one of roughly 800 athletes nationwide who received an invitation to the camp, which is widely regarded as the top prep football camp in the country and features over 100 former and current NFL coaches and players.

After making stops each of the past two summers in Williamsburg, this year’s camp, which begins Thursday, is being held at Dublin Jerome High School in Dublin, Ohio.

Neville’s invitation came after a standout performance at a regional Top Gun camp in Northern Virginia in early June.

According to 247sports, a CBS Sports affiliate that covered the Northern Virginia Regional camp, Neville “is a promising young tight end that has tremendous hands and room to pack on more weight. He made numerous big catches during 7 vs. 7 drills.”

At Jamestown, Neville was a two-way starter on the offensive and defensive lines his freshman and sophomore seasons. A starting power forward on Jamestown’s basketball team, Neville was the Eagles leading scorer and voted to the all-Conference 19 team.

He transferred to Lafayette in February and has been training with Coach Andy Linn in preparation for the upcoming season in which the Rams will be strong favorites to defend their Bay Rivers District crown.

Neville is expected to play tight end and on the defensive line for Lafayette.
