Thirteen athletes from York, Jamestown, Lafayette, Grafton, Poquoson and Hampton Roads Academy have been recognized as the Most Outstanding Player in their respective sports for the year 2013-14.
Since 1949, the PSC has honored the successes of male and female athletes, both high school and collegiate, throughout the areas of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoosn, York County, Williamsburg and Gloucester.
There was a strong local presence at this year’s ceremony, which was held June 3 at the Denbigh Community Center, as 11 athletes from Bay Rivers District schools and two more from Hampton Roads Academy were recognized.
Lafayette senior Derek Holdsworth was the only athlete recognized Most Outstanding in two different sports as he received the honor in boys indoor and outdoor track.
