
Midlothian’s girls soccer team overcame an early deficit to score five unanswered goals and beat visiting Tabb 5-1 in the 4A South Region championship Thursday.
The Tigers went up 1-0 in the early stages of the first half as Katie Herold scored on an assist from Lakaiah Robinson.
Midlothian rallied to the things at 1-1 entering the half and then came out firing in the second, pouring on four more unanswered goals to run away with a 5-1 victory.
“Could definitely tell it was our third game of the week,” Tabb Coach Kelle Shiflett said in an email after the match.
Despite the loss, Tabb guaranteed itself a berth in next week’s 4A state Final Four in Lynchburg.
Grafton Boys Fall 2-1
An own goal by Grafton helped Midlothian take a 2-1 lead at the half and the host Trojans added on for a 3-1 win over the Clippers in Thursday’s 4A South Region championship match.
Nishan Moomjian scored Grafton’s first-half goal with a strike from 25 yards out that sailed just over the reach of the goalie.
Grafton will travel next week to Liberty University to compete in the inaugural 4A state tournament.
