
William and Mary women’s basketball freshman Marlena Tremba was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week after a standout weekend at the Cyclone Challenge.
Tremba finished the week averaging, 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and added a block.
In the Tribe’s 10-point win over Saint Louis, the freshman scored a career-high 25 points added three rebounds, dished out two assists, two steals and a block. She shot 5-of-11 from 3-point range in the game. The 25 points were the most by any Tribe player since Emily Correal scored 26 against Old Dominion on Feb. 21. Against No. 14/10 Iowa State she also in double-figures scoring 11 points. She added three rebounds, two assists, and a steal against the Cyclones.
The Vienna native has scored in double-figures in all but three games this season, and leads the Tribe scoring attack with 12.9 points per game. Her 12.9 points per contest ranks ninth in the league and is the best among CAA freshmen.
Tremba and the rest of the Tribe return to action on Friday when they welcome North Carolina A & T to Kaplan Arena inside William and Mary Hall. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
