Warhill 92 Poquoson 50
Devonte Dedmon netted a career-high 35 points to break the school’s single-game scoring record – one he set last year – as Warhill breezed past Poquoson 92-50 on Friday to improve to 2-2 on the season in the Bay Rivers District.
Bruton 58 York 36
York rallied after being down 23-1 in the first quarter to give Bruton its toughest test of the season, but the Panthers held on to win 58-36 behind Marcus Carter’s 16 points. Joe Riddick led a balanced Falcons attack with seven points.
Lafayette 70 Jamestown 60
After Lafayette’s Dequan Harris stole an inbounds pass and scored the game-tying layup with five seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime, the Rams outscored visiting Jamestown 14-4 during the extra period to earn a 70-60 victory. Click here to read a full story.

Tabb dropped to 2-2 on the season with a 63-53 road loss at New Kent on Friday despite a game-high 26 points from Terrell Sheffey.

Billy Barnes scored a team-high 18 points, Braden Sutton finished with 17 and Kai Brown added 12 as Walsingham (5-1) held off Atlantic Shores Christian’s fourth-quarter rally to win 58-54 on Saturday.
Williamsburg Christian Academy 78 New Life Christian 52
Xavier Green led three WCA scorers in double figures with 18 points as the Eagles (6-2) won their sixth straight, 78-52, over New Life Christian on Saturday.

Lafayette 77 Thomas Jefferson 46
Keyana Brown scored a game-high 26 points and Tiara Strong added 20 as Lafayette improved to 4-1 (3-1 BRD) after defeating Thomas Jefferson 77-46 on the road Saturday night.
Hampton Roads Academy 60 Cox 42
Braysia Hicks netted 22 points and Rachel Lia finished with 17 to lead HRA (3-1) to a 60-42 home win over Cox on Saturday. The Navigators improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory.

Lafayette’s Holdsworth Shines at CNU Winter Frolic
Lafayette senior Derek Holdsworth won the boys 1,000-meter run in 2 minutes, 29 seconds which is the fastest time in the nation among high school runners this season.
The Rams’ boys team also got strong performances from Jason Menzies, who won the 1,600-meter in 4:24.95, and Jason Weatherwax won the pole vault with a 12-foot leap.
On the girls’ side, Lafayette’s Kathryn Tomczak, who won the pole vault with an 11-foot, six-inch jump, was the only individual event winner among local athletes. Team scores were not compiled. Click here for full results, courtesy of milestat.
