Warhill wins home opener, star point guard returns to help Jamestown prevail on the road and more.

Warhill 63 York 55
Kasey Grainer poured in a career-high 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds as Warhill held off York’s fourth-quarter rally to win 63-55 in the Lions’ home opener. Jewel Walters added 13 points and Alayna Cormier chipped in with 11 for Warhill, which moved to 1-1 on the season with the victory.
Jamestown 60 New Kent 38
Aaliyah Lyttle, thought to be out the first month of the season with a leg injury, was cleared to play Thursday and scored 20 points in her season debut to help Jamestown win its first game of the season, 60-38, on the road against New Kent. Leondra Graves added a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double and Jamiyah Johnson contributed nine points for the Eagles, who improved to 1-1 on the season with the win.
Poquoson 55 Bruton 45
Bruton kept it close all game but suffered its second consecutive loss to start the season after host Poquoson pulled away late to win 55-45. Naya Samuel (12 points), Kelsey Sluss (12 points) and Alexis Calloway (10 points) led the Panthers in double figures.
Smithfield 55 Tabb 41
Eight different players scored for Tabb, led by Rae Ana Cain with nine points, but it was not enough as the Tigers fell to 0-2 on the season with a 55-41 home loss against Smithfield on Thursday.
