The Score: Many Volleyball, Field Hockey and Soccer Results from Tuesday

York volleyball earns first Bay Rivers District victory; WCA, HRA field hockey play to  2-2 draw, and more.

VOLLEYBALL

York def. Bruton 25-21, 25-19, 25-27, 23-25, 15-12

Sydney Sumner finished with 23 kills, 15 digs, six blocks and two aces as York won its first Bay Rivers District game of the season after outlasting Bruton in five games Tuesday. The Panthers, led by Alexis Calloway’s 10 kills, 15 digs and four aces, rallied from a two-set deficit before the Falcons won the deciding fifth set 15-12.

Jamestown def. Lafayette 25-17, 26-24, 25-18

Monique St. Cyr filled up the stat sheet with 36 assists, 12 digs, six kills and four aces as first-place Jamestown defeated Bay Rivers District rival Lafayette in three sets Tuesday night. Kelly Esch added 15 kills and 10 digs for the Eagles, who improved to 13-0 in the BRD (16-1 overall). Lafayette fell to 8-5 in district play and 9-5 overall.

Warhill def. Poquoson 25-11, 25-12, 25-17

Alex Koon finished with 16 kills and eight digs and Cori Clifton added 10 digs and five kills as Warhill cruised to a three-set road win over Poquoson on Tuesday. The Lions moved to 11-2 on the season with the victory.

Grafton def. Smithfield 25-18, 25-15, 25-11

Christa Hall led the way with 27 assists, nine digs, nine kills, two blocks and a pair of aces as Grafton rolled past Smithfield in three games Tuesday.

Cape Henry def. Walsingham 25-12, 25-21, 25-10

Maggie Harris tallied 10 digs, nine assists and six kills and Emma Schellpeper added seven digs, seven kills, six assists and a pair of aces for Walsingham in a three-set loss against Cape Henry on Tuesday. Kristen Vogelbein added seven digs and three kills for the Trojans, who dropped to 3-4 in Tidewater Conference play (9-9 overall).

Peninsula Catholic def. Hampton Roads Academy 25-16, 25-19, 25-19

Leanna Yevak finished with 19 assists and Bri Underwood added seven digs and seven kills as HRA fell to 4-2 in the Tidewater Conference (16-7 overall) after losing to in three sets to Peninsula Catholic on Tuesday.

FIELD HOCKEY

Hampton Roads Academy 3  Williamsburg Christian Academy 2  

Mauri Ware scored her second of two goals in overtime to lift Hampton Roads Academy past host Williamsburg Christian Academy on Tuesday. Anne Waverly added one goal and one assist in the effort for HRA, while Stephanie Seaman scored both goals for WCA.

Lauren Allison and MC Evans scored on assists from Lauren Mitcham and Brenna Langan as unbeaten Tabb jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 4-0 road win against Jamestown at Wanner Stadium on Tuesday. Kara Enoch and Courtney King scored unassisted goals in the second half for the Tigers. Keeper Sam Tiffany stopped 14 shots in goal for Jamestown.

BOYS SOCCER

Cape Henry 4  Walsingham Academy 0

Billy Roberts made 11 saves as Walsingham suffered a 4-0 loss against unbeaten Cape Henry (6-0 TCIS) on Tuesday.
