Warhill 2 New Kent 1
Michael Brumfield outlasted New Kent’s Matt Metheny on the mound to earn his second straight complete-game victory Thursday as Warhill edged host New Kent 2-1. With the score tied 1-1 heading into the final inning, Jordan Hackney led off the seventh with a single that led to pinch runner Nathan Edwards scoring on Hayden Johnson’s game-winning base hit for the Lions, who improved to 2-1 on the season.
Grafton 15 Bruton 0
Nic Kurz (2-3) drove in three runs, Tim Beyer (2-3) added two RBI and Nathan Hicks went 3-3 at the plate Thursday as host Grafton defeated Bruton 15-0. P.J. Jackson yielded three hits over four innings on the hill for the Clippers, who improved to 2-1 on the season heading into Friday’s showdown with Lafayette (3-0).

Grafton 6 Bruton 3
Grafton scored of all of its runs during the fourth inning and held on for its first win of the season, 6-3, over visiting Bruton Thursday. Allison Deaver allowed four hits over seven innings of work while Katie Brownschidle (3-3 run, RBI) and Tara Deck (2-3, RBI) paced the Clippers’ offense.
Jamestown 7 West Point 3
Jamestown rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of a 3-3 game to pull away and beat visiting West Point for its first win of the season. Kaitlyn Dorst went 2-3 at the plate while freshman Brooke Smith picked up her first career pitching victory.

Hampton Roads Academy 3 Walsingham 0
Courtney Montgomery scored two goals and Katie Slater finished with two assists as HRA blanked host Walsingham 3-0 in both team’s Tidewater Conference opener Thursday. Emily Jackson saved 10 shots for Walsingam (0-1 TCIS). Kellyn DeChirico made eight stops for the Navigators (2-0, 1-0 TCIS).

Aly Harmatz, who was one of seven different Tabb players to score, finished with a hat trick and Macy Peebles added two goals and one assist as the Tigers (3-0) ran away from Heritage for a 10-0 victory Thursday.
Lafayette 1 Bethel 0
Peyton Kilgore’s first-half goal off a corner kick proved to be the difference for Lafayette, which improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory.
York 3 Menchville 3
Kisa Reck scored her second goal of the game in the closing minutes as York’s girls came from behind to earn a 3-3 tie against Menchville Thursday. Kamryn Comer headed in the Falcons’ other goal on an assist from Jennifer Pandolf.

Eight different players scored a goal apiece for Lafayette, which jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead and cruised to win an 8-0 shutout. Goals were scored by Alex Emerson, Jason Eckenrode, Matt Beatty, Reeves Trott, Isaiah Fung, Connor Tsigaridas, Calvin Mitchell and Emery Trott. Mitchell added two assists in the win.

Walsingham Academy’s golf team opened its season with an eight-stroke victory over Hampton Roads Academy Thursday at the James River Country Club. The Trojans’ Trevor Caccetta took home medalist honors after shooting a three-over-par 39. Alex Bolton followed with a 43 and Emily Nolan and Matthew Shield each shot a 46.
