Lafayette High administration is asking all alumni, former faculty and staff members to mark their calendars for next October 18 and 19, when the school will celebrate its 40th year reunion in conjunction with Homecoming weekend.
The celebrations will begin Friday with the school’s Homecoming football game against Smithfield, which finished alongside the Rams as co-Bay Rivers District champs last season.
According to a school press release, the festivities will include a luncheon at the Ford’s Colony Country Club for newly inducted Athletic Hall of Fame members followed by a pep rally in Lafayette High’s gym. During the football game, in addition to the traditional crowning of King and Queen, alumni band members and cheerleaders will also relive their former routines alongside current students.
Other events include a social with a tour of the school and a multi-year reunion party with live entertainment hosted by the class of 1983 on Saturday night.
School principal Anita Swinton, former athletic director Betsy Thomas and current athletic director Dan Barner encourage any classes planning a reunion for 2013 do so around the 40-year celebration in October.
It is also requested that the presidents or a senior class officer of the classes of 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009 appoint one individual class in the Homecoming Committee.
