GIRLS BASKETBALL
Grafton 83 Lafayette 23
Stat-stuffer Hannah Olson finished with 15 points, 11 steals and six assists as first-place Grafton cruised past Lafayette at home to improve to a Bay Rivers District best 13-0 on the season. Clippers’ point guard Emily Beyer led all scorers with 22 points, and Renee Roe chipped in with 16. Grafton led 44-9 at the half.
Poquoson 58 Jamestown 50
After being held scoreless in the first half, leading-scorer Aaliyah Lyttle sparked a fourth-quarter rally for Jamestown, although the Eagles came up short in a 58-50 loss to second-place Poquoson. Jamestown (8-5 BRD) trailed by 23 points heading into the fourth but outscored the Islanders (10-3 BRD) 22-7 to close to gap to single digits. Jacque Hecker added 12 points in the loss and Sam McLaughlin finished with 10.
Bruton 48 Warhill 41
Erika Sluss and Zina Lofton scored 11 points and Alexis Calloway finished with 10 as Bruton pulled away from Warhill late in the fourth quarter to win 48-41. Sophomore Kasey Grainer pace Warhill with 13 points in the loss.
