The Region I field hockey tournament, which was originally scheduled to begin Monday and was postponed to Tuesday in light of Hurricane Sandy, will now begin on Wednesday.
While both York and James City County Schools are operating under two-hour delays Tuesday, much of the regional field, including members from the Fredericksburg-area Battlefield District, are out of school.
Tournament director Susan Wiker confirmed updated game times and locations Tuesday morning.
The Bay Rivers top two seeds, Tabb and Bruton, will host a double-header at Wanner Stadium Wednesday while number three Grafton and number four York hit the road. The Tigers play Courtland at 5:30 p.m. followed by Bruton-King George at 7 on Wanner’s turf field.
The semifinals will be held on Thursday followed by the championship on Friday.
The Bay Rivers District volleyball tournament will proceed as scheduled Tuesday evening with first round games being hosted by the higher seeded teams.
The volleyball semis will also be held Thursday, although the tournament championship is slated for Saturday.
