WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg Regional Library will host author Paul Martin on Saturday, Sept. 9. for a writing workshop co-sponsored with Chesapeake Bay Writers.

Writing Workshop: Chronicles of a Fiction Writer will see Martin speaking on the process of writing his book “The Adventures of Chuka.”

During his presentation, Martin will address aspects of writing including concepts, characters, plot development, and conclusions as well as book publishing, according to Chesapeake Bay Writers.

“The Adventures of Chuka” focuses on ten-year-old Chuka as he leaves his home Ahsencharo Indian Reservation for adventures with his half-wolf dog Winatu in the foothills of the Huachuca Mountains of Southern Arizona.

Martin is a retired army intelligence officer who was stationed twice in Southern Arizona, where the book takes place. The story began as stories he wanted to leave for his five children, and now, his eleven grandchildren.

Martin has also written and contributed to nonfiction publications on South Africa, Mexico, El Salvador, and the United Nations.

The presentation will take place in the Schell Room from 2-3 p.m. on Sept. 9.
