GLOUCESTER — Arts on Main in Gloucester is celebrating Black History Month in February with a group show featuring black Virginia artists.
“Celebrating Black Artists — A Black History Month Exhibit,” will feature black Virginia artists including Sukenya Best, Nia Alexander Campbell, Julian Haskins, Ray Johnson, Dathan Kane, Jackie Merritt, LaKaye Mbah, & Anjenette Renae.
According to Arts on Main, the aim of the show is to educate the community share history through artwork, but most of all celebrate black artists and their journey with the community.
Mbah will also teach a “Story Shields” workshop on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The show opens on Friday, Feb. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the exhibit will be on display from Feb. 3 through Feb. 25.
