YORKTOWN — Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg announced it is now accepting gently used clothing donations at its Yorktown ReStore location.
According to the nonprofit, the new clothing department will help the Yorktown ReStore:
- Increase ReStore revenue that supports affordable housing
- Offer more accessible, everyday items for local shoppers
- Expand donation opportunities in a practical, community-driven way
- Keep usable goods in circulation and reduce waste
The new department is accepting gently used clothing donations. The nonprofit said donated items should be clean, in good condition, and free of stains, tears or heavy wear. Donors are encouraged to bring clothing bagged or boxed for easy drop-off, it added.
“As resale continues to grow and more households turn to secondhand shopping for value and sustainability, we are taking steps to ensure our Yorktown ReStore remains innovative, relevant and positioned to maximize mission impact,” said Shauntrice Williams, Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg CEO. “Together, we can turn everyday donations from every part of our lives into funding that helps us build stronger communities together.”
ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers operated by Habitat for Humanity. Proceeds from ReStore sales help fund Habitat’s local mission, including new home construction, exterior home repairs and other housing initiatives that help more families build stability and independence, the nonprofit notes.
Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg also operates two additional ReStores in Newport News and Williamsburg. Clothing is offered exclusively in Yorktown. The Yorktown ReStore is located at 4824 George Washington Memorial Highway in Yorktown.
