WILLIAMSBURG — WindsorMeade and the Van Brimer Family hosted their second Annual Hugh Van Brimer Birthday Memorial Concert Friday, featuring a brass quintet from the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra.
The concert is held annually to honor and celebrate the life of Hugh Van Brimer, who served on the board of the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra and was a former WindsorMeade resident. One of Van Brimer’s favorite bragging rights was reportedly sharing a birthday with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Hugh passed away in 2020 at age 90.
“As a community that supports the spirit of the arts, WindsorMeade is honored to host the members of the Williamsburg Symphony’s Brass Quintet for this special tribute,” WindsorMeade Executive Director Andrea Staskiel said. “It brings joy to the residents and team members at WindsorMeade to celebrate the life of the late Hugh Van Brimer — our beloved friend and neighbor.”
After an introduction speech from Van Brimer’s daughter, the brass quintet began their tribute performance. Pieces during included: Badinerie from Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor, Suite of Elizabethan Dances, Oblivion, Fire Dance, Quintet No. 3, and Children of Sanchez.
