Local Bicyclists Invited to Take their ‘Bikes Out of Hibernation’

JAMES CITY COUNTY — The community is once again invited to bring their bikes out of hibernation this weekend.

Bikes Out of Hibernation is an event held in conjunction with Pedal the Parkway and will provide free bicycle safety inspections, helmets, helmet fittings and more.

Riders can receive free tire pumping and minor adjustments from local bike shops. No registration is needed.

The event is sponsored by the Williamsburg Area Bicyclists, BikeWalk Williamsburg, James City County (JCC) Parks and Recreation, Jamestown Settlement, Conte’s Bike Shop, Trek and Jimmy’z Mobile Bike Repair.

Bikes Out of Hibernation will be held on Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jamestown Settlement parking lot, adjacent to the Colonial Parkway.

Riders can then take their bikes on the Virginia Capital Trail or the Colonial Parkway, which will be closed to motor traffic for the entire weekend.
