Leon “Jigger” Sirois, 91, of Williamsburg

Leon Duray Sirois (Bucktrout Funeral Home)

Leon “Jigger” Sirois passed away September 23, 2026 at Brookdale Chambrel Williamsburg at the age of 91.

He was born April 16, 1935 in Shelby, IN to Earl “Frenchy” and Fern Sirois. He is survived by his wife Juanita and many friends and family members.

Services will be held October 24th at 11:00 AM at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Rd, Williamsburg, VA.

Jigger’s childhood dream was to become a professional race car driver and win the “Indy 500”. He had a successful racing career, but winning Indy was not meant to be.

Following racing, he started a career at American Oil Company (AMOCO) at their Whiting, IN refinery as a pipefitter/welder. He later transferred to their refinery in Yorktown, VA and retired from, then known as BP.

As a child he developed a severe stutter. At a young age he vowed to someday financially help children who stutter. He was able to accomplish his goal by starting two foundations, CHKD (Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters) in Norfolk, VA and St. Vincent in his native state of Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to help children receive speech therapy or The Williamsburg Fire Dept. who were a blessing during his illness.

Checks can be made to CHKD, and mailed to CHKD Philanthropy Office, PO Box 2156, Norfolk, VA 23501-2156 (memo: Sirois Fluency Success Fund); Ascension St. Vincent Foundation, 250 W 96th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260 (memo: The Sirois Pediatric Fluency Fund); or Williamsburg Fire Department, 440 N Boundary St, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
