With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of Dale E. Prowant Jr., who left this world on September 3, 2026, at the age of 78. Dale was born on April 5, 1948, in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he also peacefully departed.

Dale lived a life of service and passion, grounded in the community he loved. He served as a dedicated firefighter with Williamsburg for 23 years, bravely protecting and serving his fellow citizens. After his esteemed career as a firefighter, Dale embarked on a new journey as the owner of Pro Locksmith, which he ran successfully for 15 years. His work was not only his livelihood but his way of contributing to the safety and well-being of those around him.

A proud Marine Corporal from 1965 to 1967, Dale carried the values of discipline and honor throughout his life. He had an adventurous spirit, reflected in his love for wrestling and motorcycles, pursuits that brought him joy and camaraderie.

Dale’s generosity was well-known among his family, friends, and even strangers. He was particularly giving to the servers at restaurants, earning the affection and gratitude of many. At Cracker Barrel, the staff fondly gave him a nickname due to his kindness and frequent acts of generosity.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane P. Prowant, and his cherished parents, Dale Prowant Sr. and Ruby Jane Prowant. Dale leaves behind a loving family: his sisters, Joann Taylor, Gale Griffin, Debra Whisenant (Pete), and Dorothy Prowant (Robert); and his step-daughters, Ann Davis (Bill) and Becky Edwards.

A graveside service to celebrate Dale’s life will be held at Williamsburg Memorial Park September 30, 11a.m., where family and friends can pay their respects and honor a life well-lived.

Dale E. Prowant Jr. will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Dale, in the place where your journey began and ended, surrounded by the love of your family and community.
