On Thursday, August 6, 2026, our beloved Juanita Celestine Carter answered the Master’s call at the Hospice House of Williamsburg. She was born on March 21, 1948, to the late Robert E. Perrin and Annie Lewis Perrin.
Juanita was a lifelong resident of York County. She loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior on September 3, 1961, at Grafton Baptist Church. She later rededicated her life to Christ, joining Shiloh Baptist Church in 2001. We find comfort in knowing she is at peace and in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and cherished friend was a truly remarkable woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, and compassion. She had a heart that made room for everyone. She was caring and compassionate to all who had the privilege of knowing her, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or share a kind word. Her warmth and genuine concern for others made people feel loved, valued, and welcomed in her presence. Family was at the center of her heart. She treasured every moment spent with the people she loved and created countless memories that we will hold onto forever. Whether gathered around the table, sharing laughter, enjoying conversations, celebrating special occasions, or simply being together, those moments were precious to her. She also cherished her friends and the special relationships she built throughout her life. Her friendship was a gift-genuine, loyal, and filled with love. She had a beautiful way of making those around her feel like family. Her love was not simply something she spoke about; it was something she lived every day.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert E. and Annie Lewis Perrin; her beloved son, Malcolm Terrance Carter; mother-in-law Elizabeth Bly; her siblings, Joyce Perrin, Robert Perrin, Theodis Perrin, Clarence Perrin, Lillie Mae Pierce, Harry Perrin, Patricia Dennis, Annie Spriggs, Sarah Lewis, Deloris Perrin, Timothy Perrin, Charles Perrin and Maggie Carter; sister-in-law Linda Meadows; and brother-in-law Gerald Watson.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her devoted husband, John A. Carter; her loving daughters, Joyce Carter Wilson (Neil), Stefanie Jewel Carter (Mike), and Shanita Carter; grandchildren, Sharice Carter, Abram Davis, Micheal Moore and Aaron Davis; great-granddaughter Kamari Grier; siblings, Elsie Chandler, Vatrice Sessions and Kenneth Perrin; stepmother-in law Pauline Carter; sisters-in-law, Michelle Hargis, Beverly Patterson (Michael), Judy Butler, and Brigette Maxwell (Kevin); brothers-in-law, Jeff Carter (Lesia), Gary Carter, Sr. (Brenda) and Henry Bly (Tracy); and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and caring friends.
