William Lee Jones, 82, of Nags Head, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, with his longtime companion by his side.
William was born on September 30, 1943, in Clinton, North Carolina, to the late William Jones and Muriel Jones. Raised with strong values and a humble upbringing, he learned the importance of hard work and perseverance at an early age. Those principles remained with him throughout his life and helped shape the man so many came to know and admire.
A dedicated and highly skilled tradesman, William built a successful career as an electrician, eventually earning the title of Master Electrician. He took great pride in his work and the reputation he established through decades of integrity, craftsmanship, and dedication. He retired from Dominion Energy as a supervisor, where he was highly respected, deeply valued, and formed many lifelong friendships with his coworkers. Following his retirement, William founded Cape Electric, where he continued doing what he loved while successfully operating his own business for many years.
Outside of work, William could almost always be found outdoors or enjoying the company of family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and loved golfing and especially enjoyed competing in tournaments in Nags Head, where he made many treasured memories. Whether he was playing cards with friends or spending time with the “Boys at the Dog Pen,” William cherished fellowship, laughter, and the simple pleasures of life. He never needed much to be content—just good company, a good conversation, and time with those he loved.
William will be remembered for his hardworking spirit and quiet strength. He valued the relationships he built throughout his life and always enjoyed gathering with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Muriel Jones.
Left to cherish his memory are his longtime companion, Jane Pincus; his daughters, Susan Moya (Lou), Leslie Lewis (Michael) and Jill Smith (Norm); his 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, as well as his 100 year old uncle, Knot.
The family invites those who knew and loved William to share memories and words of comfort here.
