Barbara was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on December 18, 1941 to G. Loyd and Dorothy Wilhelm and passed at home surrounded by family in Williamsburg, Virginia on June 5, 2026.
She was a homemaker, sang in church choir, loved playing the piano, working crossword puzzles in ink and playing expert Sudoko.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sharon Smith, and her brother-in-law, E. Lee Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edwin; children Janice Doherty (the late Rob Burdette), Mark Woolson (Stephanie), Michael Woolson (Michelle), and Karen Riley (Christopher); grandchildren Megan Hashashyan (Ohannes), Sean Doherty, Daniel Woolson, Amanda Woolson, David Woolson, Alexa Woolson, and Matthew Riley (Alexis); great-grandchildren Hazel Hashashyan and Jameson Riley; and nephew Doug Shanbarker (Marie).
A memorial service will be held at Verena at the Reserve, 119 Reserve Way, Williamsburg, Virginia, on Thursday June 11 at 3:00 pm in the Dining Room. Burial to be held at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Maryland at a future date.
