Kim Rodgers, born on December 22, 1964, in New Orleans, LA, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, in Yorktown, VA, at the age of 61. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and service, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Kim’s family was central to her life, and she treasured their trips to Hilton Head, creating cherished memories with her beloved husband of 34 years, Rickey Rodgers, and their children: Evan Rodgers (Antonia), twins Emily Rodgers and Erica Jarvis (Isaiah), and Erin Rodgers. Her gentle spirit and kind heart were felt by all, including her mother, Lucille Van Buren, her siblings Karyn Ann Van Buren and Gerald Anthony Van Buren, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who survive her.
Kim’s hobbies included crocheting, logic problems and puzzles. She loved reading, particularly James Patterson and John Grisham books. The value she placed on using her mind left an impact on her children, all four of whom graduated college and have had early success in their careers.
Kim was a beacon of light in her community, selflessly serving at the Williamsburg Church of Christ where she was an active and devoted member. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. She loved serving the Lord and poured her heart into volunteer work at the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank, offering help and hope to those in need.
Kim’s legacy is one of grace and compassion, a life lived fully in service to others. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to Mercy Chefs or the Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund, causes close to Kim’s heart.
Though Kim may have departed from this world, the love and light she shared will continue to inspire and uplift us. Her unwavering faith, boundless love for her family, and dedication to serving others will forever remain a guiding force in our lives.
