Leslie M. Belmondo, 69, of Toano

Leslie M. Belmondo (Bucktrout Funeral Home)

Leslie Belmondo, 69, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Throughout her life, Leslie embodied devotion, strength, and quiet grace. She was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, and a woman whose kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born to William and Rose McDermott, Leslie grew up surrounded by a close-knit family and carried those values into her adult life. She spent most of her years in Girard, Pennsylvania, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and the family she cherished. Leslie found joy in the simple things, especially spending time by the water and tending to her garden, two places where she felt most at peace. She was a proud graduate of Francis Scott Key High School, Class of ’73.

Leslie is survived by her devoted husband, David Belmondo; her children, Gennica Matosky (and son‑in‑law Brian Matosky), David “D.J.” Belmondo (and daughter‑in‑law Jill Belmondo), and Brent Belmondo. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and a great‑grandchild who brought her endless joy. Leslie is further survived by her sisters Franny Marsh and Nancy Cobian.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Rose McDermott; her sister, Judy Cross; her brother, William “Bill” McDermott and several beloved loved ones and friends who welcomed her home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Leslie’s name to At Home Care and Hospice of Williamsburg, Virginia, whose compassionate support brought comfort to her and her loved ones. Donations can be sent to BrightSpring Hospice Foundation 805 N. Whittington Parkway Louisville, KY 40222.
