Burlin Rogers Jr. (Bucktrout Funeral Home)

Burlin Rogers, Jr. passed away surrounded by love after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. A member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, he carried a deep sense of heritage, strength, and quiet pride throughout his life.

Burlin worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 35 years, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, strong work ethic, quick wit, and infectious laughter. Outside of work, he found joy in cars, NHRA racing, riding his Harley, and working on projects with his friends.

Above all else, he cherished his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities and took great pride in supporting them in all they did.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Rogers; his children, Sara Rogers, Amanda Verdin (Josh), Brian Rogers (Mari), and Stacey Forcke; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Regina Cuffee, Joan Grey, and Patsy Barker, along with many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burlin Rogers, Sr. and Martha (Jacobs) Rogers; his brothers, Rex Rogers and Robert Rogers; and his son-in-law, Chris Forcke.

Burlin will be remembered for his loyalty, his humor, his love of family, and his steady presence — a man whose laughter and kindness left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
