Brian Lee Layne, 48, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025.
Born in Virginia, Brian was lovingly raised by Lloyd Lee Layne and his wife, Judy Layne. Later in life, he learned of his biological father, William Moehring, and was grateful to finally meet his half-brother, William, just a few years ago.
Brian shared 27 years of marriage with his wife, Christy Layne, and together they built a beautiful life with their three children: Amber, Austin, and Tyler; he was also survived by his half-brother, William Nixon; father-in-law Garry Hilton; and his friend Matt Crouch.
A talented lifelong cook, Brian attended culinary school for a time and continued to bring that passion into his home every single day. He loved taking his children saltwater fishing, proudly preparing their catches into family dinners that became treasured memories. Brian’s kindness and humor were constants, whether he was scrolling through funny TikTok videos with Christy or finding a way to make someone smile, he had a natural gift for lifting spirits.
He worked in home remodeling and painting, taking pride in his craftsmanship and dedication. Music of all kinds filled his days, but so did gentleness; he was known for wearing a sweater that read, “You never know what somebody’s going through,” a message he lived out through compassion and understanding toward everyone he met.
Brian will be remembered as a good, kind man who cared deeply for his family and extended that same warmth to others.
