Eric Monte Bowman, known lovingly as Monte, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Bowman; his mother, Marcell C. Bowman; and his siblings, Iris B. Adkins, Pamela E. Otey, and Glenn M. Bowman Sr.
Monte was a lifelong Charles City resident who took great pride in his work, his home, and his family. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee of Kraft Nabisco, where he spent much of his career before retiring. His strong work ethic and loyalty were evident in everything he did—both professionally and personally.
Monte will be remembered for his generous spirit, love of the outdoors, and constant willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether he was working on a project, mowing the lawn, fixing a neighbor’s car, or simply spending time with loved ones, Monte brought quiet strength and warmth to every moment.
Monte is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Irene; his two devoted daughters, Sherri and Erica Bowman; and two cherished grandchildren, Jordan Bowman and Eryn Brown. He is also survived by his sister, Carol B. Lewis (William); sisters-in-law, Annie B. Bowman and Josephine Wilson; brothers-in-law, James V. Coleman Sr. (Sharon), Roy S. Coleman, and Glenn M. Coleman; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He will be deeply missed for his presence, humor, and the love he freely gave. His home was filled with laughter, warmth, and a soft spot for his grandcats and granddog, who were never far from his side.
A memorial service will be held at Vincent Funeral Home in Providence Forge on July 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monte lived his life with ease and comfort, and we wish to honor that spirit during his celebration. Guests are encouraged to wear graphic tees or casual attire—just as he would have preferred.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly encourages simple acts of kindness in Monte’s memory.
