Aven Jesse Guzman, 30, of Hampton

Aven Jesse Guzman (Altmeyer Funeral Home)

Aven Jesse Guzman, affectionately known by his close family as “Monos,” leveled up to the great beyond on June 20, 2025, at the age of 30.

Born on January 7, 1995, in Victorville, California, Aven embarked on his latest adventure from Hampton, Virginia, leaving behind a legacy as colorful and dynamic as his custom-built PCs with water cooling systems and rainbow lights.

Aven’s journey took him through a vibrant career with the Navy, where he served as a Fire Technician and helped as a career counselor, guiding fellow sailors as they navigated their own quests. His knack for knowing what gear to equip for life’s challenges made him a cherished ally to all who sought his wisdom.

Outside of work, Aven was a true connoisseur of epic tales and virtual realms. Whether saving the universe in “Halo,” exploring fantastical worlds in “Final Fantasy,” or building milk jug PCs for the sheer challenge, he embraced his geekdom with gusto. An anime aficionado, he could often be found debating the merits of “Bleach” characters or pondering the existential themes in “RE: Zero.” His passion for gaming was not limited to video games, but Dungeons & Dragons, where he cast spells as the level 13 Warlock named “Vexan,” or wielded cards in Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! battles. His passions led him to form many lasting friendships, and even lead him to creating his own online communities on Discord to share memes and discuss all things gamer.

Aven’s musical tastes were as eclectic as his interests. A devoted fan of ska, he was often spotted at concerts. His creative spirit found another outlet in poetry, where he wove words with the same skill he used to cook up a storm in the kitchen. Thanksgiving dinners were legendary under his care, featuring his Nana’s stuffing recipe.

Above all, “Monos” will be remembered for his dedication to his family. A devoted son to Gladys and Alex Guzman, the best brother to Yessica “Monas,” Alexia, Alyssa, and Alina, and a loving father to his two daughters, Aviana and Himari. He always knew how to lighten up any gathering, especially with his infamous pancake breakfasts— with butter and syrup on both sides guaranteed.

Aven is survived by his wife, Jordan Guzman; daughters, Aviana and Himari; parents, Gladys and Alex Guzman; sisters, Yessica “Monas,” Alexia, Alyssa, and Alina; niece, Amalia; his Nana Jenny, and an extended party of friends and family who will forever cherish their memories with him.

Join us for a celebration of Aven’s life with visitation on Monday, June 30, at 1 pm at Altmeyer’s Denbigh Chapel, where services will commence at 2 pm, followed by a reception.
