Audrey Ann Fritschmann, 97, of Virginia Beach

Audrey Ann Fritschmann, a beacon of grace and warmth, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 97. Born on October 6, 1927, in Naugatuck, Connecticut, Audrey lived a full and vibrant life marked by her dedication to family, faith, and community.

A talented interior designer by profession, Audrey had an innate ability to transform spaces with elegance and charm. Her work brought joy to many, and she was respected and admired by her peers and clients alike.

Audrey was deeply committed to giving back to the community alongside her late husband, August Christian “Chris” Fritschmann, III. Together they were actively involved with the Shriners, dedicating their time and efforts to support the organization’s noble causes. A lifelong fan of the Washington Commanders, she carried her enthusiasm for her favorite team throughout her life, celebrating their victories and supporting them through all seasons.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Audrey was an active member of the Church of the Ascension, Virginia Beach, where she found solace and strength. She was also a devoted participant in the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, contributing her time to serve others and build a strong community.

Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William, Sr. and Leona Hay Patterson, her cherished husband of more than 40 years, Chris; and her brother, William Patterson Jr. She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy: her sister, Linda Patterson of Lexington, Virginia; Linda’s daughter, Leona Rickerson (Aaron) and their son, Wyatt; as well as nieces and nephews, Kim Cunningham of Knoxville, Tennessee; William Patterson, Jr. (Julie) of New Jersey and their daughters, Autumn and Natalie; and Patricia Rogerson (Brian) of Virginia Beach and their sons, Jacob, Troy, Mark, and Michael.

A memorial mass will be held in the near future to celebrate Audrey’s remarkable life and enduring spirit.

Friends and family are encouraged to leave condolences and share memories, keeping Audrey’s spirit alive in their hearts.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Food Pantry at the Church of the Ascension.

Audrey’s life was one of love, compassion, and unfailing kindness. Her memory will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
