John Howard Walton, 84, of Mattaponi, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior after a short illness on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
John Howard worked hard his entire life and was still working right up until his diagnosis. After finding out he was ill, John Howard fought his disease with dignity and grace, knowing wholeheartedly where he would go in the end.
Music was a big part of John Howard’s life. Countless folks have enjoyed his hospitality and musicianship at the “Dew Drop Inn” over the past 26 years, playing and listening to bluegrass and country music.
John Howard was preceded in death by two of his sons, Don Howard Walton and David Wayne Walton; a sister, Lois Sears; two brothers, Raymond Walton and Edward Walton.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Faye Walton; daughter, Deborah Faye Walton; two sons, Ron Walton (Teresa) and Glen Walton (Jacqueline); three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lil Roselli; numerous cousins; and countless friends that he made over the years through a shared love of music.
