Nancy Newton Solovey, a vibrant and spirited woman known for her warmth and vivacity, passed away on February 22, 2025, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Born on November 19, 1947, at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C., Nancy lived a fulfilling life of 77 years.
After spending a year at Madison College, Nancy married the love of her life and dedicated herself to her two children. Nancy was a devoted and loving mother who dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. Her nurturing spirit and boundless energy were felt by all who knew her. She was a spitfire, whose lively presence brought joy and laughter to every gathering.
Her interests were as diverse as her personality. Nancy enjoyed golf and tennis, and was also an avid bridge player. Her love for nature was evident in her participation in the garden club, where she shared her passion for cultivating beauty and life.
Nancy’s faith was an important part of her life and she attended Bruton Parish Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis F. Newton Sr. and Frances M. Meadows, and her brothers, Ellis Newton Jr. and Charles Newton. Nancy leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Garrick J. Solovey; her son, Michael P. Solovey; her daughter, Robin Solovey Fisher (Jay); and her sister, Aunie Laurie Munson; and two grandsons, Jack and Garrick Fisher. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue through them.
The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Nancy’s life at a visitation on Saturday, March 8, at 11 am, followed by a funeral service at noon, both held at Bruton Parish Church. A reception will follow at Custis House, where stories and memories of Nancy’s extraordinary life will be shared.
Nancy Newton Solovey will be dearly missed, but her spirit and the joy she brought to those around her will remain in our hearts forever.
