Verlene Ann Price, 85, of Williamsburg, passed away on January 21, 2025. She was born March 18, 1939, in Leavenworth, Kansas.
On August 21, 1958, Verlene married Anton J. Price and assisted him in the Air Force and with his subsequent career. Throughout her life, Verlene traveled through all of the 50 states and to four continents – two of which she made a home on. She also lived in eight different states, some of them multiple times: Florida, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia.
Verlene volunteered for the American Red Cross Disaster Client Services and assisted during many national disasters, including 9/11. She also volunteered for 5AF Family Services, the AF Base Hospital, the Virginia State Director Newmar Corporation Club, the Girl Scouts of America, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and as a church day care center teacher.
Here in Williamsburg, she was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church. She was involved in various aspects of the Church, including the choir and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She also served as a homeless shelter cook, blood drive coordinator, and Sunday and Vacation School teacher.
In addition to her husband Anton J. Price, Verlene is survived by her children, Jana L. Leonard and Craig J. Price, and her grandchildren, Curtis Davis, Michael Davis, Kathleen Leonard, and Finnbar Price.
A Celebration of Life honoring Verlene will take place at King of Glory Lutheran Church on Sunday, February 2 at 2:00 PM.
