Joan Baumbach (Bucktrout Funeral Home)

Joan Audrey Baumbach peacefully passed away in Williamsburg, VA, Tuesday January 14, 2025. She was 88 years young.

Joan was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 11, 1936. She was married to the love of her life, Donald Baumbach in September 1954 and had two children, Robert and Robin. They lived in Maryland until they moved to The Eastern Shore of Virginia in 1990. She spent her days volunteering at a local hospital, enjoying sitting on her screened-in porch watching the incredible sunsets and she loved to read. She ultimately moved to Williamsburg, VA in 2015 to be closer to family.

Lovingly known as “Mi-Mi” by her five grandchildren, she was blessed beyond measure with so much love in her life. She became a great grandmother in 2017 and again, just recently in 2024.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Rose Violet and Charles Daily, sisters Rose and Mel, brother Buddy, cousin Alice, husband Donald Baumbach and her “special friend”, James Porter.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Baumbach (Lisa), daughter Robin Couch (Joe), sister Barbara Paul, brothers Bob and Larry Daily, in addition five grandchildren, Samantha Smith (Joshua), Colton Couch (Hannah), Jillian Baumbach (Robert), Aubrey Baumbach, and Emma Bolton (Kyle), and of course her two great grandsons, Jackson Smith and Peter Couch.

A celebration of her life will be set at a future date.

May she rest peacefully, looking down on all of us, guiding our way.
