David Alvester Lightfoot, 73, of Williamsburg

David Alvester Lightfoot, beloved husband of Corlis Lightfoot, was born on October 7, 1951, in James City County, Virginia, to Arthur and Florence Lightfoot. He passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

At an early age, “Crockett,” as he was affectionately called, accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church. He was also educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public School system.

David spent many years working at the Williamsburg Pottery Factory and Hazelwood and Brothers Seafood, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. He found joy in fishing and cherished moments spent with his family in his leisure time. He loved watching Western series and listening to “Oldies But Goodies” music. He often expressed immense pride in the achievements of his children and grandchildren, encouraging them to surpass his own accomplishments.

David’s enduring love for his family and belief in their potential were hallmarks of his life. His words, “Family is supposed to stick together,” will continue to resonate with those he leaves behind. May he rest in peace, knowing his legacy of love and unity endures.

David was preceded in death by his mother Florence Lightfoot; siblings, Gaylon Lightfoot (Beatrice), Mark Lightfoot (Theresa), and Barbra Parker (James).; granddaughter, Alissa Smith; and great-granddaughter, Nylayah Crenshaw.

He is survived by his loving wife, Corlis; his beloved children, who he was a devoted father to, Angela McClure (Lamar), Marcus Lightfoot (Belinda), Crystal Lightfoot, Marita Lightfoot, and Cassandra Lightfoot; his grandchildren, who he was proud of, Tamara Lightfoot, Malika McClure, Tashawnna Ellis, Justice Wilson, Markhiya Lightfoot, James Smith III, Alex Lightfoot (Khadijah), Arthur Ellis, and Unique Johnson; his great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his legacy, Jailah Smith, Amariee Ellis, Nevaeh Friend, Allen Friend, Kaiden Lightfoot, Alayna Lightfoot, Malachi Lightfoot, Zy’mara Crenshaw, Ny’mira Crenshaw, Alyssa Gethers, England Wilson, and Thyri Wilson; siblings, Alton Lightfoot (Audrey) and Sandra Holmes (Walter); and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
