Herbert L. Greene, 90, of Williamsburg, Va. passed away on Thursday, June 20th, 2024. He was born on October 21st, 1933, to the late Larkin and Etta Greene in a small cabin in Bluff City, TN.

Herbert graduated from Hampton High School in 1951. After graduation, he tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers at the War Memorial Stadium and was always a devoted fan. He proudly served his country in the Air Force for four years. After attending the apprentice school at NASA, he retired after 30 years of service and assisting in the design of the Steam to Trash Plant, that is still used today. He then began working for J.M. Kenneth and Company in Atlanta, continuing to design Steam to Trash Plants across the country. He then was a consultant for the City of Babylon, NY., until his retirement at 88 years old. Herbert loved playing golf and was a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Singing and international travel brought him great joy. He was a licensed pilot and loved being in the sky.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Michael Greene and Mark Greene (Diane); sisters, Betty Martin and Janice Harris (C.E.); grandchildren, Christy (Tony), Chris (Jennifer), Jimmy (Crystal), Mark, Jr. (Jerri), Aaron (Kim), Timothy (Destiny); great grandchildren, Taylor, Jenna, Anthony, Wyatt, Vance, Abe, Nina, Harold, Piper, Rachel, John, Alena; and a special pair of twins, Adalyn and Harper; and great-great grandchild, Katalyn.

A service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Rd. Williamsburg, Va. Family will receive friends one hour prior. Burial will be private.
