Randy William Christenson, 75, of Toano

Lt Colonel (Ret.) Randy William Christenson, 75, passed away peacefully while asleep on 13th June 2024, at his home in Toano Virginia.

Randy was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Russell and Betty Christenson, the oldest of three siblings. He grew up in Montana and graduated valedictorian of his high school class.

Randy was educated at Montana State University, West Georgia College and University of Oregon, where he earned his Master of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees. Randy was a Radiologist with 31 years of experience in the medical field. He was a respected M.D. known for his excellence and professionalism.

His life was dedicated to serving his country, spending 25 years in the U.S. Army. He began his U.S. Army career as a diagnostic radiologist and flight surgeon in 1976, stationed at Fort Benning Georgia, followed by a tour at the DMZ in South Korea, then in Germany, Colorado, South Korea (second tour) and finally, Fort Eustis, Virginia. Throughout his Army career, he exemplified dedication and excellence, earning numerous decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Randy was a devoted family man who loved his wife and brothers above all else. He was a beloved husband to Shulan Christenson, and a wonderful brother to Rick and Gary Christenson. His kindness, generosity, and humor made him a cherished and loyal friend and colleague to many.

In his free time, Randy enjoyed bicycling, traveling, reading, DIY projects, and building antique car models which brought him much joy and relaxation. He was also a charitable person who actively supported and contributed to Habitat for Humanity, local law enforcement and veteran communities.

Randy is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shulan Christenson, his two brothers Rick Christenson, and Gary Christenson. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. Though he may have left this world, Lt Colonel (Ret.) Randy William Christenson’s legacy of kindness and wisdom will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
