We announce with sorrow the passing of Marie Colley, 96, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, of Roanoke, VA and her longtime home in Hilton Village, VA.
She will be greatly missed by many. She was a world traveler, well-read and never met a stranger. She shared with many, her love of books, the outdoors and the beauty of the world.
She is survived by her son, George Colley and his wife, Dani; grandsons, Jason Colley (Leila), Steven Colley, Zach Colley (Ashley), Sarah and great-grandchildren, Abel, Greyson, Joel and Everett Colley and Alex and Aedan Charles.
Many thanks to all of the caring staff at Mennowood Retirement Center and PACE who looked after her needs as she declined in age, but not in spirit.
She followed her own independent path from the farm to distant lands by rail and ocean liners and taking flight to places with roads less traveled to see its’ beauty. She was a force of nature and the wildflowers have called her and she has gone home to the far mountains.
