Tony Curtis Slaydon, 64, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 in Newport News, VA.
He was born in Rockingham County, NC and moved to Newport News as a teenager. He married the love of his life, Sarah Mae Campbell in 1980. He started at Newport News Shipbuilding, the same day his youngest son was born and worked as a pipefitter for 40 years. Tony was very outgoing and made an impact on everyone he met. He loved dancing and fishing and could often be found at a lake with a “No Fishing” sign posted. He was a member of the Warwick Moose Lodge #1711.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph “Pete” Slaydon. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Sarah Slaydon; his children, Jason (Molly) and Brian Slaydon; his mother, Vivian Slaydon; his beloved grandchildren, Anthony, Christina, and Campbell Slaydon; three brothers, Michael (Claudia), Roger (Becky), and Eugene (Bonnie) Slaydon; his sister, Wanda Miller; a large extended family and many loving friends.
A Celebration of Tony’s Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Weymouth Funeral Home with a Visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peninsula Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
