William “Bill” J. Valvo, 76, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. His wishes are that family and friends celebrate his life and the many contributions he made.
Bill was born to Carmelo and Beatrice Valvo in Rome, NY. He graduated from Vernon Verona Sherrill Central High School in 1965 where he met his wife, Pat. He later graduated from Saint Leo College Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree on April 28, 1990. Bill had a 22-year rewarding career in the United States Air Force as a Communications Electronic Systems Manager, retiring in 1987 as a Chief Master Sergeant.
Bill and Pat were married on August 12, 1967 and a year later welcomed their first child, Troy. In just over two years the family grew to four with the birth of a second son, Billy. They welcomed their grandson Liam in 2002.
Bill was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge, No. 4, F. & A.M. in St. Albans Vermont since 1975 and has supported the Lodge ever since. He was also a member of CIAO Italian American club since 2022.
Bill enjoyed playing golf, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved visiting Europe with his wife and family, making trips to numerous countries, and returning multiple times to his favorite sites in Ireland and Italy.
Bill and Pat called Virginia home for almost 42 years. They moved to their retirement home in Williamsburg, Virginia in 2021 where Bill began working and volunteering within the community.
Being a grandpa came naturally to Bill. He loved watching his children and grandchild grow and become men. He never missed a chance to tell them he loved them and was proud of the men they are.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pat; their two sons, Troy and Bill; a grandchild, Liam; his brother, Joeseph Valvo and his sister, Kathy Valvo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bill’s memory, to The American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association or King of Glory Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, VA.
Bill’s Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg VA 23188.
